Since Joseph SIAT purchased a mill in Oberhaslach in 1818, the family-owned company has continuously evolved to become a key player in the wood industry in France and one of the largest sawmills in the country.

Groupe SIAT celebrated its 206th anniversary. In line with tomorrow’s challenges, blending in technical performance, environmental respect and a sustainable business model, the group innovates to valorise wood and create virtuous and sustainable circles within the territories with its teams and customers.

Our history

1818

Foundation in Oberhaslach.

1840

Creation of the sawmill in Urmatt

1999

Purchase of a direct competitor, Ferdinand BRAUN. Then SIAT BRAUN becomes the number 1 French softwood sawmill with 3 production sites.

2005

Complete reconstruction of the Urmatt site with a 42 million euros investment.

2012

Over 82 million euros invested in modern and innovative tools : X-ray scanner, new log yard, cogeneration unit, and wood pellet production

2017

Launch of “Roi des Forêts”, a range of trendy decorations in natural untreated wood.

2019

200th anniversary: new visual identity and new name, SIAT BRAUN becomes Groupe SIAT.

2020

Takeover of both Labruguière and Brassac sites in Tarn. Groupe SIAT expands from 3 to 5 production sites.

2023

Creation of an additional manufacturing unit, dedicated to roofing, in Labruguière.

2023

Construction of a band sawing line (specializing in non-standard products) in Urmatt.
